What does SPLNS mean?

Score Per Last N Shares

SPLNS stands for Score Per Last N Shares. “Score” means each share is weighted by its difficulty. “Last N Shares” means it’s a rolling score across the last N = 5 × current network difficulty, with more recent shares weighted higher.

SPLNS is designed to be hop-proof, so miners can’t game it by joining/leaving on lucky streaks. It updates every minute using:

HERP (Hash Extracted Rate Product): HERP = √( MIN(share_diff, network_diff) / work_diff ) × work_diff / 2 — value of each share.
DERP (Difficulty Extrapolated Reward Payment): DERP = HERP_user / HERP_pool — expected reward if a block were found now.

The pool’s total HERP grows until it reaches 5 × network difficulty. After that, it’s scaled down each minute to include the latest minute’s HERP, proportionally for all users.

Top 50 miners are always paid. To enter the list, raise your HERP/DERP to beat the 50th miner.
If a miner outside top 50 finds a block in the BTC SPLNS pool, the pool donates its 1% fee to that finder.
After each block, all SPLNS scores reset to zero and start accumulating again.

Block rewards mature after 100 confirmations (~18 hours). See the payout list for current status and order of payments.
